The pattern-interrupt that hired
An AI talent-sourcing startup
The problem
AI talent sourcing is a hard offer to cold-email: hiring leaders delete recruiter outreach by reflex. The offer needed a subject line that could not be ignored, and a CTA with near-zero friction.
The mechanism
Pattern-interrupt subject lines ("I'm spying on you", "Revenue > Talent", "They're cheating on you", "it's simple maths", "You're fired!") broke the recruiter-delete reflex.
Each opener mapped to a reply keyword ("spy for me", "Let's go", "Let's break up") so the first response was a single word, not a calendar commitment.
Follow-ups ran the numbers (30% faster time-to-hire, 40-60% cheaper, 35%+ more hires/year) and a client story, closing on a curiosity/breakup angle.
Total sends not visible in the export, so prospects (86,829) is the denominator printed. Reply rate 0.6%; the 4.7% positive-reply rate is 23 of 491 replies.
